Third Son ‘Darker Side Of The Moon’ EP out now on Selador

third son_ep packshotTo say Third Son has had a prolific 2015 would be bordering on understatement. The young Welshman has made one hell of an impact with an impressive string of releases for the likes of Noir, Suara, Go Deeva, Sincopat, Einmusika, Underground Audio, MadTech and 303 Lovers bringing him as close to ubiquity as any new kid on the block could hope for.

We at Selador however, believe that we might just have managed to bag his best work to date with an inspired EP built from the finest ingredients this side of an Heston Blumenthal menu.

Captaining the side is ‘Darker Side Of The Moon’ which has been a secret weapon in Mr Seaman’s sets for the last few months with it’s chugging bass and peak time, cascading melodies. If you ever needed to capture the very best of what Third Son does, hear this.

Playing the crucial supporting role comes ‘Colourblind’. Another sub-Moroder driven slice of chunkiness which ironically delves into slightly darker territories than it’s predecessor. Pretty sure that’s the main man on vocal duties there too. Yet another weapon in his firepower.

First up on remix duty, we welcome Petar Dundov into our ever growing Seladorian clan. The big Croatian is a safe pair of hands in the remix game and his trademarks are all over this interpretation of ‘How I Feel’, which was Third Son’s acclaimed contribution to our recent Selador Showcase compilation. A perfect match.

Justin Massei completes the line up to remix ‘Colourblind’, returning the favour after Third Son had remixed Justin’s ‘Nothing Can Hide’ on his recent Selador release. Aww, group hug ;-) This mutual back scratching however, has resulted in something special as Justin turns on the Berlin vibes. Proper late night action.

With so much talent on show, it’s harder than ever to pick a winner and remember, it’s not just the taking part that counts!

Selador Recordings – Come and have a go if you think you’re hard enough. ;-)

Justin Massei ‘Nothing Can Hide’ EP out now on selador recordings

justin_massei packshotFollowing on from  Selador Recordings debut at the legendary Watergate Club in Berlin, we deliver an EP from one of the DJs who appeared on the bill that night, the burgeoning talent that is Justin Massei.

Justin has already appeared twice on the label with contributions on both of our Showcase Compilations but now here he is in all his fully fledged glory with an EP that truly puts his flag in the sand.

Originally hailing from the US but now residing in Berlin, Mr Massei makes a strong statement of intent with a couple of raw tech house missives built specifically for those hallowed Berlin dance floors.

The lead track is an intense affair, all brooding beats and fervent swagger. Deep, dark and dirty. As is the other original production on offer, ‘The Creator’. Again, it’s all about the bottom end. Pure, undiluted dark energy.

Remixes this time around come from label boss Dave Seaman who turns in a large slab of peak time Techno. The driving bass and rattling percussion power this interpretation, punctuated by some wonky arp work that surges and cascades through the breakdowns. Big room business.

And completing the package, a producer who has lit up 2015 so far with an impressive glut of releases for the likes of Noir, Suara, Material and Go Deeva… Third Son. The Welsh wizard retains all the original’s authentic passion but adds a pulsating bassline to proceedings to provide a fuller production. Formidable stuff.

A dispatch from the darkside then. Prepare to be corrupted.

Showcase Volume 2 Compilation (Part1) Out Now On Selador Recordings

selador showcase 2- part1Clear the decks. The second instalment of Selador’s Showcase series has landed.

Gathering together some familiar label favourites alongside an array of exciting new talent, the album features ten exclusive tracks from some of the artists that will be spearheading the label over the coming months. And being the kind, considerate souls we are, we’ve split the album up into two easily digestible parts. The first of which is out on March 23rd.

Part 1 gets off to a flying start with the inimitable Piemont. The German duo have been stalwarts of the label from the very beginning and it’s great to have them back with a brand new original track. Entitled ‘You’, this little gem dishes up wave upon wave of classy house textures. It’s stylish and assured, effortlessly smooth and unmistakably Piemont. Just the way we like it.

Next in line it’s our great pleasure to welcome Third Son to our roster. The young Welsh wizard has been steadily make a name for himself with releases on Noir Music, Material & Suara amongst others and we’re very happy to be adding Selador to that impressive list. ‘How I Feel’ is a hypnotic slice of tech house. Dark and chilling in all the right places, it powers along with all the swagger of a young gun slinger. Fire!

Portuguese born, Berlin based producer Joal follows up his successful Climbers remix for the label next with the first of a handful of original productions we have lined up from him. ‘Tomorrow’ is a captivating piece of modern deep house which commandeers more than it’s fair share of otherworldly magic. Spell binding stuff.

Another new name we welcome into the fold, Jaap Ligthart weighs in next with ‘Tour De Jours’. A wonderfully restrained sophisticated serving of deep house that steadily creeps up on your when you least expect it, this serves as a prequel to his first fully fledged release for the label which is currently in the scheduling queue patiently waiting its turn. A tasty taster if you will ;-)

And finally for Part 1, Berlin based Justin Massei returns after his debut on the first Showcase compilation with ‘Tell Them’, a solid gold specimen of proper house music. Full of infectious energy, driven by relentless synth stabs and employing a cheeky wee vocal sample, we dare you not to dance to this.

So then, 5 more beauties with which to impress your friends and generally elevate your social status.

Part 2 follows next week. Stand by.

Selador Recordings – 50 shades better than all the rest. Come and get some ;-)
