Marco G & Amin Golestan ‘Dagobert’

by Dave

ATDIGI19 600x600 Dagobert packshotAs far as collaborations go Marco G and Amin Golestan dont half make it hard on themselves, with a distance  of over 6,500 miles between their respective homes of Montreal and Dubai it must be considered quite an  accomplishment to write a track together. But this is exactly what they have done. The pair spent weeks  passing the parts backwards and forwards before ‘Dagobert’ was born. Just goes to show what can be  achieved when you set your mind on something. It’s not the first time they’ve accomplished this either. With  remixes for the likes of Toolroom, Little Mountain and more recently Dave Seaman, the pair have been  consistently delivering quality productions that have gained them lots of favourable support and attention.  Seems like they’re onto something.

The original mix is an absolute stormer that just rocks from start to finish, but we are also very happy to have a  further 3 stunning remixes on board as well. First up are Spektre who have been consistently been turning out  great productions and remixes for the likes of Fever Ray, Great Stuff, 303 Lovers and Craft to name but a few  and once again they deliver here with an amazing remix. Next up is the talented Brazilian producer Wehbba  who has done some amazing releases of late on Blu Fin and 82 Recordings. He adds his own techno infused  edge to the track. Finally we have another South American producer in the form of Colombian Alex Young who  has had releases on the likes of Tribal Vision, Noir Music and Spin Out. Alex strips his remix right down with a  more minimal tech house vibe.

And Eminem said nobody listens to techno. It must have been all the drugs he was doing!

August Update

by Dave

The Renaissance Masters Series 14 album cover

So, after several painstaking weeks, the endurance test that was the making of my new mix CD is finally over. Yes, my 26th compilation, Renaissance Masters Series Volume 14 is finished and due for release on September 28th but to be honest, I think it may well be my last.

It’s such a time consuming process these days, dogged by licensing issues and digital rights restrictions, not to mention the fact that trying to make an album four months in advance that still feels ‘new’ when it’s released is increasingly difficult. Consequently, the allure of just doing regular free podcasts grows evermore appealing. But we shall see. For now, I’m just enjoying the fact that this one is done. I hope you enjoy it too.

Other up and coming releases to look out for include my recent collaboration with Josh Gabriel, ‘Hayaah’ which is out on Josh’s Different Pieces label on Sept 7th with a remix by Francis Preve, (click here for a preview). Also keep ‘em peeled for ‘K Conundrum’ which is the track I produced with Andy Chatterley scheduled for late September on Audio Therapy and already getting plays from the likes of Digweed, Tong & Prydz. Lastly, don’t forget that my latest compilation release, ‘This Is Audio Therapy Volume 2′ is out now and been getting some great reviews and reactions. You made an old man very happy. Thank you.

And finally, DJ Mags Top 100 poll is upon us once again. Yes, its that time of year when, from every social networking site known to man, you’ll be bombarded with the rather pathetic pleas of ‘Vote For Me’ from DJs  canvassing like slimy politicians, prepared sacrifice their dignity in the hope of gaining a few extra steps up the fame ladder. I’ve been guilty of it myself in the past, seduced by all the hype. And for what? So I can feel better about myself being a little bit higher up a nonsensical list? It reeks of Big Brother ‘Please like me’ style desperation. It’s just bullshit. So, with all that off my chest, I’m not going to ask for your vote this year. Of course, should you wish to have your say then that’s your perogative. I wouldn’t be so bold as to tell you what to do. But I’ll be damned if I’m going to beg you for it because ultimately I really couldn’t care less either way. There’s far more important things to worry about. Actually, I think Mr C has hit the nail on the proverbial head here..

Until next time, don’t believe the hype…

See you on the dancefloor,

Dave
